Luke doesn’t tell us much about the moment when Jesus was born. But he does tell us a whole lot about the political environment in which Jesus born. How incredible a contrast between the power of earthly kings and the power of God, that He would use the decree of an emperor to create the humble setting in which the King of Kings would be born! No matter what the world powers do, they are all pawns in God’s sovereign hand. His will will always be done!
