The baton has been passed from one generation to (Jacob) to the next (his sons). Straight away, the model of Cain and Abel asserts itself as Jacob’s sons seek to rid themselves of their father’s pet son, Joseph. But God has much in store for him as an individual and his family through him. In this story, we’ll see how God sets the stage for the next great development in His redemptive story.
