How to Deal With Each Other’s Sin (1 John 5:16-17)
What do you do when you see a brother or sister sinning? Do you ignore it? Do you get in their face? Do you gossip? In today’s passage, John will tell us where to go first: prayer. We ought to pray for one another, but we ought to do it in a way that guards our hearts and recognizes that prayer is neither automatic nor effective to save those who consistently and permanently turn their backs on God. Prayer does not save; it is the God who hears our prayers that saves.
