Things go from bad to worse after Judah convinces to sell his brother, Joseph, into slavery. After settling down in Canaan and marrying a not-so-nice Canaanite girl, Judah gathers to himself two or three wicked sons, a questionable daughter-in-law, and two more sons/grandsons by way of that daughter-in-law. The whole thing is a mess, but this particular mess is a part of the long road that winds its way all the way to Mary, Joseph, and the Christ child born in Bethlehem.
