The Unexpected and Undeserved Promise of God (Genesis 28)

Today, we catch up with Jacob the heel-grabbing, birthright-stealing Deceiver as he’s sent away from his family in Beersheba to his mother’s brother’s in Aram. Along the way, God confronts this future father of Israel in a vision and makes Him an incredible promise—the same promise He made to Abraham and Isaac—to give him a land, a nation, and a blessing. In this story, we’ll see just how gracious and generous God is with those who deserve nothing from Him whatsoever—a.k.a. us.
