In the Valley of Vision (Isaiah 22)

Self-reliance is a fickle friend. Sometimes, it leads us to pride in our own power. Other times, it leads us to despair over our weakness. In this oracle, we see Jerusalem flit between these two positions. At the end of the day, the problem is that they need to rely on God rather than themselves. The same is true for all of us.
