Maggie R

Maggie had a clinic visit today. Her numbers continue to improve on their own and she did not need any infusions. She has been growing stronger and gaining weight. Maggie is doing so well, in fact, that she can go home sooner than expected! Barring any changes in Maggie’s status this week, Caitlin and Maggie will head back to Cleveland Thursday after Maggie’s next clinic visit. Maggie will continue to come to Jackson weekly for checkups. Maggie must remain quarantined at home for a long time as she is still at risk for complications, especially during these first 100 days.

The Lord has been so kind to answer so many prayers on Maggie’s behalf. Please continue to pray:

- That Maggie would remain safe from transplant complications

- That Maggie would remain safe from colds, flu, and RSV during this winter sick season.

- For the whole family as we adjust to a new normal.

Bill George

Bill has been sick with upper respiratory infection, was better and planning on being at church in the morning. However, he fell down our basement steps tonight (the lower 3 steps) around 6:20 pm and could not move his leg & knee was really swollen. I brought him to ER; had knee xray & CT, has ruptured patella tendon, and is being admitted; will likely have MRI & surgery as soon as can be scheduled, but not considered emergent. He is unable to move or lift his Right leg. Thank you for your prayers for proper & timely care and healing. So far he has received excellent care and we are very thankful for that!

Update: Thank you for your prayers. Ortho came in and per MRI/exam Bill has ruptured quadriceps tendon and needs repair ASAP and will do surgery tomorrow Monday, 12/29 afternoon. We are so thankful he can go ahead & repair tomorrow! We’ll stay in hospital tonight & tomorrow night and see how goes from there. Will go home with leg brace & walker for about 6 weeks. Said quad tendon rupture same severity as patella, just different side of knee. Thank you for ongoing prayers for successful surgery without complications! Thank you!

I would like to add Trish Divincenzo and Jackie Divincenzo to the prayer list. Trish's husband, my Uncle J.R., died at 55 of cancer. They had been together 40 years, and Jackie, his daughter, is 24. They don't have much support, and my aunt (Trish) is really taking it hard. I pray for comfort and peace during this tough time for our family. Thank you. Update (1/27): We had asked for prayer for our friend Debbie who was experiencing sleep deprivation. She has now recovered after a brief period of hospitalization. She is back to her normal activities. Thank you for your prayers for her.

Please pray for our friend Debbie. She is currently experiencing sleep deprivation. If she is not able to get some sleep in the next few days she will be hospitalized. She is concerned about this because she wants to be able to see all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren over the holidays. She has a history of sleep deprivation and she knows if she goes to the hospital that she will be there for six to ten days. If she misses this time with her family she will be very disappointed. Please pray for God's will in this situation. Thank you for praying with us.

Angiogram procedure on 12/18.

Update from Joe (12/18): They put a stent on the main artery and she’s doing good. She’s feeling tired and sleepy, most likely due to the anesthesia. It will be 3 hrs before we get out, mainly to be sure she has no bleeding on the site where they input the needle. Praise God for watching over her.

My friend Judy who has been very ill for last few years is struggling.

She has now moved from Bloomington Indiana back to Owensboro Ky (our hometown)

She is in an assisted living and minimally ambulatory

She doesn’t go anywhere except to the doctor on a handicapped bus.

I recently visited her over thanksgiving weekend and I am not sure she is dealing rationally with the situation. She is minimally motivated to increase her strength and continues to focus on going back to living alone (as she was for a short time after the move back to Owensboro)

Pray for her salvation and honesty in dealing with the new normal of her life and dealing with her physical limits.

Pray for her depression and isolation. She stays in her room most of the time.

Thank you all for praying for her these past few years. It’s made the difference and she’s felt them, but she still is resistant in dealing with her relationship with God.

Dear HG family,

I have a new prayer request and wanted to also just send an udate on an ongoing one on the list:

First, we have close friends who's three-month-old grandson, Joshua, will undergo major heart surgery tomorrow. The procedure would take a minimum of six hours, but more likely longer. Please lift up this family and everything that goes along with such a major medical situation.

Second, without going into any detail, I would appreciate some prayers for some complicated family situations back home. The Lord knows the details.

And lastly, an update on Mohammed that we have ben praying for a long time:

For those don't know the background, Mohammed is one of my English students. He is from Afghanistan. He did a lot of contract work during the war. During the craziness of the final withdrawal he was advised to leave for his own safety, but could not take his family with him. The situation in Afghanistan continues to deteriorate. So he is very anxious about their safety. The process of reuniting is just extremely slow, despite him following every letter of the law. My heart breaks for him every conversation I have with him. It is clear that he is a family man. His green card was finally approved recently, but 3 months later he still has not recieved it. Please pray for him for every detail, and for so many Afghan families who are in the same situation. Please pray for people to be properly vetted so that those who served us well will not pay for the consequences of others who harbor illwill. And please pray that I will know how to love him well, to know how to support him, and to show him Jesus in all my interactions with him.

Thank you for taking the time to read and pray for these requests. Sometimes we just have nowhere else to turn.

Under His grace

Bea Malherbe

Pray for Kristin's cousin, Geoff, as he recovered from a critical bout with Guillain Barre.

"Thank you for praying for my cousin Anna Vana and her husband Dr. Geoff Vana, and their boys Aiden(5) and JP (3). Geoff continues to fight his way through Guillain-Barre disease. Not much is known about the disease. In Geoff’s case, he presented with all the symptoms within a matter of hours … paralysis of arms, legs, ocular off… he is making progress in the right direction, but may take years to be truly back or closer to his normal function. As for Mohammed, he is still regularly attending our classes, but desperate for his family to be here with him. He fears for their safety in Afghanistan, but they do not have passports, so reuniting in a third country is not a possibility for them. He has a wife, 2 sons and 2 daughters. The freeze on all current refugee/parolee processes has hit him really hard. It finally seemed like they were starting to process his family in December, and then it came to a screeching halt in January. My heart really goes out to him. He is at times very depressed. Please continue to pray for him and his family, and also for the Lord to reveal His love and grace for them in a mighty way. They are culturally Muslim. Also, for me for wisdom since he comes to me with his questions, and I am not an expert. So my answers are only as good as what google can tell me, and I don't want to give him the wrong information. He has other resources that helps with the process, including a lawyer, but the language difficulties cause trust issues and extra stress.

The cardiac surgical ablation procedure went well, and there were no significant problems during the procedure. They were able to correct some of the afib problems. The next three months will be a 'wait and see' to determine if they need to do the ablation again. Thank you all for your prayers! I have been at great peace about everything because we have a great God who never leaves us or forsakes us. We love our church family!️ Blessings from Randy and Teresa Graves.
