What does the word “Christ” mean? Is it simply Jesus’ last name? As we’ll see tonight, “Christ” is the translation of the Hebrew word “Messiah,” and it points to the fact that Jesus is the Promised Son of David, anointed with the Holy Spirit not just to restore the kingdom of Israel but to rescue His people and establish His cosmic reign over all things.
