The Wedding Night (Song 4:8-5:1)
The moment has finally arrived. Throughout the Song, the refrain has sounded again and again, “Do not awaken love until it pleases.” Well, the time is right, and we see in tonight’s passage the beautiful consummation of this marriage. Not only do we see the joy and transcendence of physical union, but this poem points us toward the ultimate satisfaction to come when Jesus comes for His bride at the end of the age.
