God’s Poetic Justice (Gen 29:1-30)
Fresh off his transformative vision, Jacob goes into the far country to find a wife in his uncle’s house. What unfolds is a dramatic example of poetic justice when the Deceiver becomes the Deceived. But is God punishing him? Does God punish us when we get what’s coming to us? Or is this a crucial early step toward making Jacob to man God wants him to be? And, when we experience similar poetic justice, is God trying to punish us or does He have something better in mind?
