Make Their Hearts Dull (Isa 6:8-13)
God has cleansed Isaiah’s mouth and now He’s getting ready to send him on a mission to proclaim His truth to Israel. But the intended effect of that preaching is unexpected. Isaiah will have a message of hope, to be sure, but the people will still reject it. And, in that rejection, they will confirm God’s judgment because they’ve ultimately rejected Him. Strange as it may sound, this is a great encouragement to all of us as we share the Gospel. When the hardhearted reject God’s gracious invitation, it’s not our fault. Nor is it God’s fault. It’s their fault, and unless God’s grace intervenes to change their hearts, the word of blessing will ultimately serve to be a word of curse.
